New Obsession

So, as some of you may know her already, I've only recently within the last few months been introduced to Lara Bingle.  I'd seen some photos of her floating around tumblr every so often, and loved her style but could never put a name to the face.  She's an aussie actress and model.  She has her own show, which I'm guessing by the looks of it is somewhat similar to "The Hills".  She is gorgeous, seems like a great role model, and has awesome style.  She seems so laid back and fun loving, hence the fact that she's always smiling.  I'm definitely going to style some outfits after her.  LOVE her hair in the second to last picture!

Lettuce on pizza??

Recently my BFF and I went to California pizza kitchen and tried the tostada pizza. It was amazing! So the first 2 pics Are my own rendition of the pizza. Black beans, almost made into a hummus as the sauce, jack and cheddar cheese, Lime chicken, spring mix of organic lettuce, ranch dressing drizzled, and finally some chili lime tortilla strips. As for the dough, it is really your preference. I just bought the thin crust pillsbury brand, and formed it into a circle rather than a rectangle. Yum!!

Free for all!

One day in the shop, I and my friend who is also an intern literally had a free for all in the store.  We designed 2 spaces any way we wanted and LOVED the outcome.  Here are some pictures from our complete freedom day!

This picture below shows the front window display my boss, Anne Taylor, me, and another employee did over the summer for the 4th of July.  Very patriotic!

These two pictures show an example of my own personal ability to design a front window display.  This was a seasonal transition into late July early August.  I did the whole window myself and really wanted to keep the blues from the 4th, but take out the reds and bring in the greens!  Perfect summer colors, honestly.
This is the other half of the window display.  Balancing the big white dinig table was hard, but bringing in a smaller white console table placed on the opposite angle and breaking the space up with a rustic couch from Kristen Cone Interiors also gave the space some seating as well, without leaving it to just table tops to do all the work.

This is the window transitioning from late August to early September.  You can do this in your own home as well, by just adding a few different colored accessories from the opposite side of the color wheel can liven up a space from monochromatic to pops of color.  Pillows, throws, and stools all add as great additions to color to any room!

Day Job

As some of you may know, I am an Interior Arhictecture student, in my 4th year, and I work for a retail store specializing in home goods and furnishings, as well as art.  Through my internship, and the course of the job it has developed into I have had many responsibilities to redesign booths, storefronts, and create small vingettes for advertising.  Here are a few of the following:

I absolutely LOVE redocorating, and thinking of new and inventive ways to switch things up in the store.  Constantly featuring new and old items allows for customers to see items in a new light, which is what design is all about!
